History

Minotti was founded in 1948 by Alberto Minotti in Meda — a small town between Como and Milan, where Lombardy's furniture industry had been concentrated for centuries. Starting as a small upholstery workshop, the Minotti family grew into a full-scale manufacturer over two decades: from the 1960s the company reached an industrial scale while retaining the craftsmanship of hand-finishing.

In 1991, following Alberto's early death, his sons Renato and Roberto Minotti took over the company. It was they who defined the strategy of international expansion and shaped the brand image recognised worldwide today. In 1998, Milanese architect Rodolfo Dordoni became Minotti's creative director — one of the most influential designers of his generation. Over twenty-five years of collaboration, Dordoni created the collection DNA: soft, almost architectural silhouettes; rich but unobtrusive colour choices; precise work with seam and textile proportion. The Hamilton, Yang and Connery sofas, the Leslie and Russell armchairs, the Elliott coffee tables — each of these models has become an independent cultural phenomenon in the world of contemporary interiors.

Since 2017 Minotti has consistently opened its doors to new authors without violating the principle of "innovation in the spirit of tradition". The first invited designer was Parisian Christophe Delcourt, followed by the Italo-Danish duo GamFratesi, Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan of Studio MK27, the Japanese-Danish duo Inoda+Sveje and German designer Hannes Peer. Each brought their own design culture — and each remained within the Minotti code: restraint, material quality and long-term relevance.

Today Minotti is a third-generation family brand with its own retail spaces in more than sixty countries. Production remains concentrated in Meda: the entire cycle — from cutting fabric and leather to final assembly inspection — takes place in Italy.

Why We Work with Minotti

Minotti is one of the few brands where quality consistency is technologically underpinned: every model is built on high-resilience polyurethane of varying densities, over which a thermally bonded layer of hollowfibre on white cotton is laid, and only then hand-filling with goose down and a polyurethane insert. This construction ensures a seating position and form that does not change after decades of use.

Oval-section metal frames, "black nickel" or bronze finish with anti-fingerprint coating, legs with adjustable felt pads — Minotti's technical solutions are designed for installation on any floor finish without risk of damage. This is why the brand is consistently chosen for luxury projects: residences, boutique hotels, private yachts and corporate spaces.
