History
Poliform was founded in 1942 in Inverigo (Como province) as a small furniture workshop. The Lombard region with its centuries-old tradition of precision woodworking manufacturing set the quality standards the company maintains to this day. In the 1960s–1970s Poliform focused on producing modular storage systems — sliding wardrobes, built-in dressing rooms — and it was this specialisation that became the foundation of the brand.
The turning point came in 1985: Poliform launched the Senzafine system — built-in wardrobes without a visible frame, with doors reaching floor-to-ceiling at ±1 mm precision. This was a technological breakthrough for the case-goods market. Subsequently the brand expanded its ecosystem: Varenna kitchens appeared, together with upholstery and beds developed in collaboration with Carlo Colombo, Emmanuel Gallina and Jean-Marie Massaud. Today Poliform is one of the few Italian brands capable of furnishing a living space from hallway to kitchen in a unified system.
Iconic Collections
Senzafine — the flagship built-in wardrobe system with frameless floor-to-ceiling doors. Fronts: lacquered, veneered, matt, mirrored. The system is customised to any spatial configuration — corner dressing room, walk-in closet, illuminated shoe storage. Senzafine is supplied with precise drawings tailored to each project.
Varenna (kitchens) — a Poliform sub-brand specialising in kitchen systems. The Phoenix, Artex and Twelve collections offer both minimalist recessed handles and classic profiled fronts. Hobs and sinks are integrated into worktops in natural stone, engineered quartz and stainless steel.
Mad Chair (Carlo Colombo) — an armchair with a characteristic "soft" geometry: rounded armrests flow seamlessly into the backrest, forming a single shell. Mad Chair has become an icon within the Poliform collection and is available in dozens of fabrics and leathers.
Talamo (Emmanuel Gallina) — a bed with a low headboard and an emphasis on horizontality. Platform-based construction with no visible legs — an extension of the Senzafine philosophy into the bedroom category.
