Flos at Salone del Mobile 2026 — light as an architectural element
At the Flos stand in Milan, the ALPIX team saw several debuts that redefine how light interacts with space.
The Flos stand this year was restrained in form and precise in content. A vast white space, nothing superfluous — only light and how it behaves with different surfaces.
The main debut was an extension of the Kuta series, developed in collaboration with the Muuto Design Office. New wall-mounted versions work as a standalone architectural feature: a long aluminium strip with a diffuser creates the effect of a glowing slot in the wall. We can already picture it in open kitchen and lounge concepts.
The updated Flos Architectural line also deserves attention. New recessed profiles now support DALI-2 and Casambi natively — without additional modules. For projects requiring scene-based lighting control, this significantly simplifies specification.
A key visual trend across the entire stand was warm neutral finishes: brass, matte bronze anodised aluminium, dark brown ceramic. Flos is moving away from cold chrome towards materials with character and patina.
